Big time fav! what a perfect addition for this challenge. The whole scene looks peaceful. Great way to keep the momory alive till you get there again. Love how you added the punching and the Prima
Love your entry for the Challenge Sonja! Such a gorgeous place to escape to, I need about a month there! Wonderful trees and natural look that you have nestled that photo into! Thanks for playing along!!
This makes me do my cat scream. amazing and so wintery feeling. Your design is simply stunning. The view and the scene is easy to understand how you will miss it BUT you will in time show your darling little boy the gorgeous mountains. Your trees rock ( I personally would like to climb them) and hte placement of your blue Prima vine is simply purrfect. great entry for the challenge.
What a beautiful page. The trees are awesome! We used to go to Big Bear frequently when I lived in California (a lifetime ago it seems) - our friends had a cabin there. I love Big Bear - would love to go back!
Absolutely awesome!!!!!! I love how you scrapped this challenge! Your "escape" cabin looks wonderful and cozy! Thank you for sharing this lovely page with us, my friend!
I didn't know you were so close to me! You were at the top of the mountain, and I was right below you! Your page is so heartfelt....amazing trees and beauty. fave
Took the version I did for the NSD 'No Place Like Home' challenge and modified it for the Stalker Challenge over at Scraps of Darkness using the lovely August 'Envy' and November 'Purple Rain' kits. The object of this challenge was to use a photo of your home, a place in your home or a place that you felt like home and scrap it using the title 'This is Where I...' Of course, I changed 'I' to 'We' since this really is/was the place WE escaped to! Also for the Cricut Challenge: Campout cartridge for the trees.
This is a photo of the cabin in Big Bear Lake that we have rented for the last 3 years. Though it was a small place, it was perfect for the two of us (and sometimes the cats as well) to go get away from the city, breathe the fresh mountain air and relax. Of course in winter we were also working at the mountain as ski/snowboard instructors so it served as home base for that job and we basically broke even between our teaching income and rent! :) We had to give it up this past January since I was no longer able to work at the mountain (being pregnant and all) and we needed to find a bigger place in the city for our growing family and save the rent money from here for that. It was bittersweet moving out and saying goodbye to our little mountain getaway. We'll really miss it, but we know that someday in the future, we'll be back to the mountains with our son!
The original version of this page that I submitted for the NSD challenge, I found to be too monochromatic. I also wanted to add snow to the trees for the challenge, but ran out of time. I really wanted to pull in some of the blue elements from the photo and I needed to change the title to fit the SOD challenge. 'Escaping' was more what we did when we came here. We escaped the heat in summer time and escaped to the snow in the winter! TFL!
