So much inspiration from Swirlydoos…

Jannike (RoseJen)’s SGC for September is to create a layout using NO pattern paper; for a twist, she challenged us to create freehand swirlys.
Angelica’s twist for her September Butterfly Challenge is to make sure that the butterflies are red.
All this, combined with the Deco Acryllic included in the Mon Amour Swirly Kit, gave me this idea for scrapping this photo of my DGD taken on July 4.

I made my own “pp” by stamping on white cardstock with the Build-A-Frame stamps. After distressing the edges , I mounted it onto blue cardstock that was punched on two sides and distressed on the other two.
The title and starbursts were cut on my Cricut using the Jubilee cartridge, and colored with Moon Glow mica powder. I drew the freehand swirlys with my waterpen and mica powder. The I also made some fun leaves using a stamp from Heartfelt Creations and a coordinating die from Spellbinders. They were colored with alcohol ink and then embellished with the same mica powder.

As for the red butterflies, well, that was easy. Every month, Lisa (StarSailor) goes on a hunt for butterfly images that will coordinate perfectly with the kit. She then posts them on the message board, all ready to be downloaded and printed out. These beauties were made sparkly with starburst spray.

I apologize about the shadows; I took advantage of the 10 minutes of sunshine that we seem to be allotted this week and this image is the best of the lot.

Sophia and a sparkler July 4, 2010…
