Talk about perfection!!! Christy (cbshai) came up with the perfect challenge for the bright, bold “Retro Tapestry” January kit from Swirlydoos: …And Action!!! I have the perfect photo for the challenge: my DIL took this amazing photo of my granddaughter last September.
And now, for the rest of the challenge… There has to be chipboard somewhere on the layout; no problem with that: among the kit contents are a set of beautiful alphas from Pink Paislee and from Maya Road, a sheet of chipboard wings. We must use paint, acrylic or watercolor somewhere on the layout; that is a problem. To save my life I cannot draw. The solution(s): First, I painted the wings with black acrylic paint and sprinkled on some of the Petaloo glitter that was included in the kit. Next, I took out a sheet of transparency paper and a few pieces of ZVA that I’ve been hoarding. Using the swirls as templates, I went over one of them with yellow acrylic paint and the other with green watercolor. I stamped leaf images on the remaining transparency and used the watercolor paint to fill them in. The large red flower is part of the kit; the small yellow ones are also Swirly flowers, made with the help of one of Lisa (StarSailor)’s remarkable tutorials that are available at Swirlydoos.
