Each month, one of the Swirly Savages hosts the SGC Challenge at Swirlydoos, coming up with a theme and twists of her choice. For November, our hostess Erica, aka Mimi402 challenged us to scrap our choice of themes: Veterans or Thanksgiving.
This was the perfect chance to scrap this photo of my (then engaged) parents that was taken in the summer of 1943 during my father’s final leave before being shipped to England, where he served in the Army Air Corps.
I used Rae’s awesome gelatos tutorial (here’s a YouTube link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OFvEnUa09uc&feature=g-user-u ) to make the frame-like matting for the photo. You’ve gotta check this out: she’s come up with a great design for a wall hanging!!!!
As you can see, I inked and distressed every layer of paper. I love the look of dimension that this gives. I used a couple of masks on the background: the chicken wire and distress ink and then the Prima mask with molding paste mixed with blue gelato on top.
Except for the small resin and beaded flowers, every part of this page (even the molding paste) came with the November kit and add-ons.
