Hopital de Sant Pau was built by Lluis Domenech Montananer, one of the greatest figures of the Catalan modernisme (Art Nouveau). He worked on it from 1901 to 1930. With over 40 pavilions and builidings, it is still a working hospital. Resplendent with brick, forged ironwork, tiled mosaics and nature inspired elements, the buildings are ornate and beautiful.
