Wonderful job w/ this! I love the way the strip journaling looks - and the title is so cute and clever! The striped pp is beautiful -- great colors -- really shows off the colors in those beautiful shells!
The pictures of you conch shell are so pretty. They do the same thing in the Bahamas. There are mounds of empty shells everywhere you go. I like the strip journaling. I always forget to use that technique. You title is so cute and creative/
The shells are so pretty, love the colors and the vellum circle. Great sunset shots too. I really like the journaling strips on this one, and again the title is too cute. Very funny.
GREAT lo!!! I love your journaling. I don't feel its too much. It look perfect on your lo. I have yet to try strip jpourling. After seeing this lo and knowing its your first time...it makes me wanna try.
This is the first time I've ever done a layout that didn't have any people in it! But I so loved these conch shells that I thought they deserved to be featured all on their own. My idea in designing this layout was to create a sun shape (to represent the sunny locale) and use strip journaling to evoke the sun's rays. I have never done strip journaling before and I am not sure if I like this much strip journaling on the page. Feedback???
We took these photos last year while on vacation in the Turks and Caicos Islands, which we just loved. We brought these *very* fresh conch shells back to the States with us and they now sit on our doorstep. Every time we come home, we smile and recall that wonderful summer.
The journaling reads: For us, a trip to Da Conch Shack for very strong rum cocktails and fried conch fritters was a must do while on vacation in the Turks and Caicos in 2008. The fishermen pulled fresh conchs out of the ocean each morning using a wide swatch of netting. They harvested the mollusks, then tossed the shells. The waitress said that we could go rescue a couple of conch shells, so we dug through the pile and chose these two beauties. The shells were very fresh and oh, how they stank after 24 hours. We had a time trying to get rid of the smell. They sure were pretty though, so we took them down to the ocean for a photo shoot!
This is for the scrap your vacation challenge, week 1. The challenge was to create a page with 50 percent hot pink and the twist was to stitch in lime green. I did both. There's three little lime green stitches on the upper L photo and I sewed the buttons on the flowers and tied little bows with lime floss. I love the sunset photos, but I stuck them underneath the vellum to give the conch shells the full starring role.
Thanks for looking and feel free to leave suggestions for improvement. I am new to this and really want to learn and grow as a scrapper.
