This mosaic was done as part of the scraptathlon challenge.

The photo at the bottom is taken fron the National Firefighter's Memorial in Colorado Springs. Every year, they engrave the names of firefighters who were killed in the line of duty onto a memorial wall. Each year, there are about 10-20 more names added from the entire country. Unfortunately, the tragedy of 9-11 was so horrible that they had to add another entire wall to list the names of the 343 firefighters killed in New york on that 1 day. The pupose of the memorial is to ensure that these heroes will never be forgotten.

I used 19 different pattererned papers in the shape of a 1 inch parallelogram to make the mosaic. For the flag background, I tore the edges of the paper and for the towers, I cut them straight. The lettering and the maltese cross are cut out by hand, and I stitched the antenna .

Thanks for looking!
