We had been sent to this beach in West Maui by a man working at a gas station. I was in search of shells to bring home to the kids. The area seemed run down and poor. These girls - a mom & daughter- offered to help us as a man on a motorcycle pulled up and watched us. The older girl told me we hadn't come to the best beach - it was "dirty" and littered. She warned us that we should be careful not to be a target of theft - that the man watching us was probably a drug dealer. That is when I began to worry that we had been sent there as a set up. Finally the man left, but I'm sure the girls stayed to protect us. They left when we did. I wish I knew there names. I can't help but think they were angels among us!
