My husband's niece is really more like a cousin because they are almost the same age, they grew up together and they were always very close. Made this bookmark a couple of years ago in her favorite colors for her birthday or some occasion.
I did the "ghosting" technique on the leaves, that I watched on a youtube.com video. Super fun! After I finished with the background, during the SAME sit-down session (so they don't completely set), I used the detailer nib (basically, you are painting water onto the leaves so you could also use a fine brush with water), let it sit for about 20 seconds, then wipe with a paper towel. This lifts some of the pigment off of your leaf area. Repeat if necessary. I then used a heat tool (because I just thought it maybe needed to be set), then used the lemon zest and cut grass spray ink (but with a fine tip brush) to paint in the leaves. I LOVE how it paints on top of my background, even on the dark teal area. But as a warning, I left another piece overnight (because I got called away from my desk) and then tried it, and it didn't work.
Huge hugs to each of you for all of your sweet and encouraging words and for sharing your art on here, which inspires me beyond words!
Blessings!
Debbie
