Our second stop after Old Faithful Visitor's Center was Biscuit Basin. It was on our way out of the park as we were headed to our campground. The basin was named in 1880 for the biscuit-like sinter formations around Sapphire Pool. In 1959 a 7.5 earthquake rattled the area causing the pool to erupt which blasted the biscuit formations apart. The roadway and the Firehole river divide this basin.
