I love this page so much, Cindy, especially your journaling! I can imagine how different it was after the "work reduction" occurred. I have experienced it as well, being a nurse. Your layout is beautiful and meaningful at the same time! Thanks for sharing it with all of us.
Your journaling is always so wonderful - takes the reader right back to the time. It's nice that you had a job you enjoyed so much and that you've kept in touch with the people you worked with. I had one brief stint of working in our local quilting and cross stitch store that I really enjoyed. Before I became a SAHM, my main jobs were always secretarial (enough said - LOL). Staying home and raising my kids was definitely my favorite job :) Great story and page :)
I surely can relate to that. Working with some people makes it a pleasure looking forward to each day. I worked in a store where the whole day shift were family. We all got along and would help each other out at all times. When they closed my working career was never the same in my next move. I did go to work because I "had to"
Wonderfully written as always Cindy. I love getting these little glimpses into your life. Love the choice of pp and the way you stitched your journaling spot. GREAT job.
As the Associate Director of Food Services at Ruby Hospital in the early 1990s, there was a team of supervisors that reported to me. Amy, Gene, Darlene, Donnie & (later) Dena were my friends and colleagues. I was once told they "would do anything for me". The best part for me was that I enjoyed going to work. We smiled, we joked, we worked hard. The long catering days were fun. When I was pregnant with Chris & he arrived 7 weeks before the due date, Amy met Bob to take Greg to her house for the night. Darlene, whose grand daughter was a preemie, lent me bags of clothes and sent updates from NICU. (I was in another hospital). After the "work reduction" in the mid 90s, Amy went back to school and became an RN; Gene moved to Ohio where he now works for a contract company as a food service manager. Darlene worked in food service at a local rehabilitation hospital. After that I moved to HSC, where I was the sole manager/supervisor for many years. I enjoyed my work, but not always "going to work"..
