Good for Charlie! How cruel to seperate the kittens at such a young age! I'm surprised you let her into your house! Poor baby! I'm glad he found the best home ever!
Well he certainly looks content now. 23 pounds, wow thats a big cat. Nice and cuddly. Sounds like Charlie acted on his intuition when he attacked the poor lady. It does makes one wonder how his early life was... especially as you got him so young. He has a loving home now so can do what cats do best - chill out and relax. LOL
What a awesome photo...Charlie is so photogenic!!! He looks so relaxed and laid back!! As for his treatment of his former owner...I'd say that "you get what you give"!!! Animals have a very long memory...our little dog we have now is 11 years old..and the person who had her hit her with a broom a lot..and to this day ...she freaks right out when someone picks up a broom!
Great story and I think most animals do have a great memory. I know my sweet little Pearl did not like most men and was always afraid of loud talking or rough/mean talk. Charlie may also have smelled other cats on her. Either way, I am glad he has a loving forever home now!
Aww that's a lucky cat, just like all of your other charges. Interesting about the face grab. I can't say she didn't deserve a little something from Mr. Chow Mein.
Charlie Chow Mein under the Christmas tree. He actually had been a present 3 years ago. He was born in a home where the owner had several cats that were not fixed (I am pretty sure Charlie`s older brother Tom is also his father). She (the owner) had wanted to get rid of the kittens as soon as possible and was stopping the mom cat from going into the room where the kittens were so they`d get weaned faster. We wound up taking Charlie in when he was a couple days shy of 5 weeks. The first thing I did was get him to a vet as he had infection in both eyes. I don`t know if that has anything to do with it but Charlie is nearly blind in both eyes. He also wheezes alot which we thought was asthma but when I took him to a different vet they diagnosed polyps in his throat which may require surgery in the future.
I remember when he came here he had a little bit of food with him. I offered it to him repeatedly but he refused it. Finally I offered him the cat food we had here and he gobbled it up, he just loved it. Personally I think his love of food started there. I know being a Ragdoll that he has to be big but at last weigh in it was 23 pounds!
Cats must have long memories because oneday the woman that we got him from dropped by. She picked him up and they were face to face. It looked like he was just sniffing her when suddenly he grabbed her face, sticking his claws in both cheeks and his teeth sunk into her nose. We got him off but not before he drew blood. He had never done such a thing before or since. I wonder what memory triggered such a response.
Anyway, when we got him it was at Christmastime and my family and I thought of Charlie as a present.
