A couple weeks ago, my mother asked me to reprint an old photo of herself and her cousin on the farm where she grew up. I think they're about 6 or 7 in the photo, maybe younger. I'm surprised these two little ones are playing outside in pretty white dresses! ha ha ha! But it could have been a Sunday. And my mom pointed out the "doughnuts" around their ankles...they wore high stockings, even in summer, and rolled them down to their shoes to make "doughnuts." Thanks to nfldmichelle for the wonderful papers (from ATD Momenta) and those alpha stickers in the title (October Afternoon)!! Isn't that fabric white/green fabric flower pretty? Thanks Kaz!! She sent it to me in Canada all the way from Australia! The white doily is an old thing I found in the bottom of my kitchen drawer. I die cut the brown doily out of some ancient brown canvas patterned paper from my stash. I did the cross stitch to symbolize the Ukrainian heritage of my mother...and actually did lots of cross stitch projects when I was a teenager :) The chicken wire is Dusty Attic painted silver (bought from Vicky-SimplyPaper). The chippie flourish is also DA tinted with TH Vintage photo Distress Stain and dabbed with silver paint and coated with Clear Distress Crackle Paint. I coloured the canvas heart with TH Victoria Velvet Distress ink and misted it with water. When dry, I stamped it with the music notes stamp (Hero Arts). The sign was fun to make out of CI real wood veneer paper. Feel free to drop by my blog www.kellycreates.blogspot.com if you'd like to see close-ups....or if you'd like to read some goofy stories about my family :) Thanks so much for your comments and visiting my gallery!!
