Ah ha that is a square nail in the center. Thought I recognized it. I catalogued a bunch of them when I worked for MWAC. Also looks to be a lid just to top of it. Lovely photo.

While hiking up a mesa, G and I ran into this boulder which was covered with this collection of artifacts. This area has been continually inhabited for over 2000 years so the variety of material used and refinement of the shape of the objects was stunning.
