I have been to Lake Michigan once. We went fishing on the Lake in April one year. It was cold on the boat, it was an adventure! The dunes look so cool in your photo!
So pretty! And thank you for sharing your precious memories. I am finally back in my childhood home, where I belong. Nothing more precious on this earth.
What lovely colors in this photos! I relate to your longings as most of my married life we had to move from state to state and I so missed the sound of the waves on a beach and the smell of pines when they have snow on them and the wind blows across the branches, the crunch of snow under boots on a very cold day.......etc But we got to go back to Minnesota and have all this for 11 years and somehow here I am on the desert and very content. Go figure.
I never realized you could camp on the beach until one of our girls here told us she did all the time. This is a lovely spot. What is all the fencing for?
Lake Michigan is home to me. everytime I think of her I well up a bit. When I was young I would visit the beach with my Grandpa and his transistor radio and listen to the Detroit Tigers. As a teen I loved to spend the summer camping out on a beach a few miles north of here. Our spot was close to a Huron nest and we often got to see her in the morning fishing. As an adult I have taken all of the children close to me to this lake to create wonderful summer memories. Our family looks very much forward to the day we return to Michigan and settle back home.
