Just some pictures and a folded map and some information about the town. Journaling says: Heiligenblut is a small alpine village 1288m above sealeavel and under the mountain Großglockner( which is the highest mountain in Austria with 3798m) in the nationalpark Hohe Tauern.
The name comes from the legend of the danish prince Briccius, who in the year 914 on his way back home from Konstantinopel died here in an avalanche. He carried a flask with blood Christi with him. Out of the snow grew 3 spikes and so they found his body and the flask. The flask is still in the "Sakrakmentshaus" in the church.
The town is important for agriculture and they won gold here until the 20th century. Today it is famous for tourism, alpinists going on the Großglockner and visitors of the Großglockner Hochalpenstraße beginning in Heiligenblut.
