Not a day goes by that I’m not grateful for my step-father, Rick, who is as much a dad to me as anyone on earth could ever be. He’s an amazing, hard working, clever, funny, salt-of-the-earth guy with a heart the size of his home province of Saskatchewan and the soul of a gentleman. I love my (step)dad dearly and was thrilled to have create my first handmade Father’s Day card for him. Rick and I have a tradition wherein – paying homage to his prairie farm upbringing – every now and then (Christmas, birthday, etc) I give him something with a chicken or a rooster on it. Keeping this lovely tradition going strong, I combed my stash and was elated to find that I had a sheet of (Gooseberry Patch “Farm House Kitchen”) paper that sported roosters. I wanted to keep the overall feel of this card fairly masculine however, so I opted for darker hues, lots of Distress Ink and Stain, and rustic brown twine to help balance out the pale rooster paper and the olive green velvet ribbon, while helping to convey the country-chic look I was going for.
~ Heartfelt thanks for checking out my card. Any questions about this creation, please don't hesitate to ask (PM me for fastest response). Wishing you a blissfully creative day!
