Grandpa's Girl

Happy Labor Day Weekend everyone!! Hope this holiday is going swell for you. I wanted to share with you all a picture I found recently while going through some heritage photos for a challenge.

This is my grandpa, Ed Bjorgum and myself on Dec 24, 1969. My father's hands are also in this picture to the right. Although it may look like my dad was scolding me with the way his fingers are pointing, but I'm pretty sure he wasn't. My Grandpa wouldn't be smiling if that was the case, and I don't think anyone would have taken a picture either. I think my dad is trying to get me to sing a song...as I use to do that when I was little...sing all sorts of songs, from records, to the transistor radio. My dad even made cassettes of me singing to songs. Nothing special, just a little girl singing along. I still have a couple of those cassettes today.

There aren't very many photos of my grandfather and I, even though he lived with us later on in life. This one holds a special place in my heart. I like the way I'm cuddled in his lap and how he is holding me...like he's protecting me, but with a smile, of course. He always called me "Grandpa's Girl." I'm sure many grandpas call their granddaughters by that name, but it made me feel extra special when he called me that. Grandpa was a farmer and usually on Sundays would be the only time you didn't see him in a pair of bib overalls. The ones he's wearing in this picture look brand new....he always had a "good" pair of bibs for special occasions. =)

This LO was one that kind of fell into place quickly. I knew I wanted to use some fun stuff from October Afternoon and the bird's nest was one that I elaborated on a different design. Turned out well with the chippy finch.
Thanks so much for stopping by. I know you all are very busy in life, but sharing these pictures and stories with you brings much joy. =)
