Journaling: “We boarded the M.V. Matanuska Alaskan Ferry at Prince Rupert, British Columbia on July 23, 2005 for a 2 day cruise up the Inside Passage to Skagway, Alaska. The Matanuska is one of the largest ferries of the Alaska Marine Highway. The ferry made stops at Ketchikan, Wrangell, Petersburg, and Sitka on the way to Skagway. We were able to disembark at each port of call and take a look around but were warned that if we were not there when the ferry was ready to depart for the next port, we would be left behind. It was amazing to watch as heavy road equipment and supplies were loaded into the hold of the ferry. Makes one wonder how the ferry could stay afloat with all that weight below!”
