This page was inspired by the photos taken of me by one of my dear friends at a weekend retreat about a year ago. When we got together at the same fall retreat this year, she brought me the pics. Supplies are: Basic Grey Allysa, Bazzil Cardstock, Lil Davis foam stamps, Simply stamps foam stamps by Duncan, postage stamp punch by EK success, rub-ons by Making Memories, Paint by Making memories, ribbon by SEI and ribbon bobbin, leather photo corners by Making memories, Journaling font is Barbara Hand, Word Collage fonts are A Yummy Apology (Art), Fine Point Marker (Breathe), Cajun Boogie (live), and Babel Fish (Create). Journaling reads: On occasion, usually when I am frustrated with a page that is not working the way I envision, I will ask my self why I even bother with scrapbooking. Of course, I would never really give up this hobby that I love so much, but my frustrations do raise an interesting question. Why exactly do I love to scrapbook so much? I used to think that I was doing it for my children, to make sure that they had a tangible piece of their history. Something for them to remember their childhood by. And while they really do love to look at their pages, I have finally admitted to myself that they were not the only reason that I scrapbook. When I first set a goal of becoming a “published” scrapbooker, I wondered if maybe I was doing this for the fame and notoriety. I quickly realized after the publication of my first page that this wasn’t the answer either. While it is a nice side benefit to things, it simply does not explain my drive to create. Then it occurred to me that I scrapbook because of a need to create. More precisely, I scrapbook for the sheer art of it. For me, scrapbooking marries several of my favorite art forms, photographic art, paper crafting and writing, into one beautiful expression of my artistic soul. I could no more give up scrapbooking than I could give up breathing. It is the window into my artistic soul. Thanks for Looking.
