The forthnight theme at Once Upon a Sketch was to create a page about being a woman, or about a woman and it immediately reminded me of that poem written by Pamela Redmond Satran "A Woman Should Have." It reasonated with me the first time I read it and it still makes me think when I read it again. If you have not yet read it, I highly recommend you do, you won't be disappointed and you may just want to remember it in a way I have here, and pass it down to women you cherish in your life. Follow the link to my blog below if you're interested in the rest of the poem. Part of the very long poem I've paraphrased reads as follows:

Every woman should know:
when to try harder and when to walk away;
whom she can trust, whom she can't, and why she shouldn't take it personally;

Every woman should have:
a past juicy enough that she's looking forward to retelling it in her old age;
a set of screwdrivers, a cordless drill, and a black lace bra.
I love that this challenge reminded me of that poem again and more importantly, I found a way to preserve it and share it with the women I love. I attached the poem in its entirety to the back of the layout. Used those luscious Creative Imagination papers to create this, some embossing powder and the ink resist technique. And, of course, something this feminine needs some Dusty Attic to finish it off. Thanks for looking.
