I was wondering if you had seen the altered keys on Pinterest, and then I read your description, and see that you have. I also have keys saved on pinterest, and love the old skeleton ones. Linny does a great job altering keys too! I love these.
Well Elizabeth I have to be even more totally honest with the altered key idea. Don't worry about the photos you took as I just had to zoom in on each piece to study closely how you made these and the materials used. Out of so many of your beautiful talented projects, these amazed me. First I like the gold key, but I thought it was to much like a "key" but I love it. The bottom key is a lot more sophisticated with the shade of purple, the wings, center piece and the little droplets are so perfect. This is such a unique piece it is very attractive. Now for the silver and blue key, now this one really catches my eye. I love the shade of blue, the silver wings against the beautiful center piece with the black behind the silver key is beyond gorgeous. It took my breath away. What is more amazing is I have a collection of old decorative pins my grandmother wore and the center is such a close match for a second I could see her beautiful face smiling as I looked at all of them. I know I got carried away, but I don't usually let you know what my heart says. TFS my friend they brought much joy. Hugs Linda
I am in love with keys, especially those that are altered. I have a folder on Pinterest entitled "Keypers" that I have drawn a lot of inspiration from. Here's a few that I came up with!
The bases of one at the top and on the right are a type of chipboard that was given to me by Yvonne in our PL swap this past month. I heat embossed them first and then added my embellishments. The gold one also has microbeads from Reneabouquets. I also embossed the blue vines, originally an antique gold color. I mixed a couple of different embossing powders to get that particular color. The purple key was antique gold from HL and I used alcohol ink and patina. Droplets from Walmart, bling button from HL as well as the wings. I rubbed alcohol ink on the tips with a Q-tip. The pretty piece on the gold key was also from HL's jewelry making section. It had a black dangle hanging on it that I removed. I will save it for something else.
I'm sorry if the photo isn't real clear. I took the picture with my cell phone.
