I'm not sure how to put into words how difficult it was for me to make this card. I made it for the best friend I had in junior high and high school. I was in her wedding party. She married her high school sweetheart. His last name was Brown, as was mine, and her last name was White! He was tall, dark and handsome and called me Clampett! I was short, skinny and wore wire-rimmed glasses in high school and on Sadie Hawkins day I dressed up like a hillbilly. After I married, Sheila and Mike moved away to the hills in California and I lost contact with her. When I joined Facebook 9 years ago I searched for her never forgetting how much fun we had together in our youth. Lo and behold, she found me on Facebook through mutual friends this past November. I was thrilled. Come to find out she also lives in Washington, over in Seattle. I was so excited to finally make contact with her and hoped to see her and Mike sometime this year. A few days ago there was a posting on FB, "In Loving Memory" of Mike. I was in a state of shock and heartbroken for my friend. Mike had been going to chiropractic college when I lost contact with them. Over the years he went into the medical field as an orthopedic doctor, a specialist in his field. He was also a magician and I remember him performing his tricks when we were in school. He was so much fun to be around and from what I understand he was well respected in his field. Please pray for my dear friend.

So, this card is what I came up with. The card base is DCWV'S Mercury Glass. You can't see it in the picture but it is metallic as is the gold paper from DCWV. The diecut was from Amazon. The embossed paper under the rose is also Mercury Glass and it was a scrap I had embossed a long time ago and didn't use.

I stamp embossed the rose on white cardstock, used watercolor pencils on it and the bud and then fussy cut them out and applied with foam dots for dimension. The gold bling trim was from Hobby Lobby.

Thank you so much for visiting my gallery.
