Happy Labor Day to All!
Garnett is my 2nd cousin 2x removed. When he was just 17, he joined the Merchant Marines and this is a photo of him in that uniform. He was too young to join on his own, his parents had to sign giving him permission. I didn't know much about the Merchant Marines but apparently its a very dangerous job in time of war, in spite of the fact that they have no combat duties. Following that tour of duty his father told him he might as well join the Army and he did that. Following his military life he was a policeman.
