This is amazing. I love doing family history and love the way you have documented this. I hope you have included all the information about him somewhere (hidden or on back) of the layout. What a great heirloom page this will be through the years.
Pinned!
Oh Vicki this is amazing :) :) the papers are perfect for this. love the border punch, rope, anchor, banner with name, I love how you made the ship smaller to fit on the page better. I am glad you told the story.. you are right.. we all have sad stories in our familes. you just made him an honorable tribute.
A moving story Vicki~ Yes we learn so much when we research the past... This l/o is beautiful. Great stenciling, ink work and punching. This album is such a treasure!
Wonderfully done! I agree with Terri, a sad story. People sometimes forget how young these "boys" were when they were in war and they saw such terrible things that affected them for life. I love the beautiful simplicity of this layout.
This is wonderful. I love the muted colors and the little piece of rope. Sometimes it is the little accents that make a LO stunning. A sad but interesting story of an American hero. Good luck on the family history project.
Very nice layout. Very sad that he didn't really seem to have a happy life. He was a handsome man I bet the girls were chasing him! I should do some more 8.5x11 layouts in my 12x12 album. I've done at least two 8.5x11 layouts. I like seeing your layouts you always do a great job. Also give me some great ideas for future layouts.
Hello all this is my cousin Charles Hobart Brewer who served on the USS Chattanooga during WWI. After that he moved around, Seattle, California, Texas working for the Veterans Administration and then sold for a Ordnance Plant during WWII. After than he came back home to Tennessee and owned/operated a café. He was married but I can't figure out who his wife was except her name was Ruby. Charles died young with heart trouble due to alcoholism according to his death certificate. You will find out some sad stories if you do family research. Even our greatest heroes had frailties.
