My daughter learned to sit up - nearly eight months old. I realize the dark purple reads as black here - the scalloped paper behind the photos is dark purple, to match her pants.

Journaling reads: "We didn’t really push you to sit up on your own, and you finally learned this skill in early September when you were almost eight months old. The transformation was very quick — one day you were trying to sit up on your own but fell backward several times (that was not a good day) and the next day you had it cold. Grammy and Papa were visiting at the time and were amazed at how quick it all happened!

"I didn’t realize it would be a big deal when you learned to sit up, but it really is. Suddenly you can hold something in both of your hands to look at it, instead of holding yourself up with one hand. You will turn an object over and over and over to study it. Sometimes you are so engrossed that you don’t even notice when Mommy or Daddy walk out of the room! You also love holding two small toys and banging them together. Your current faves are this red ball and a yellow plastic spoon.

"P.S. Check out that tongue — this is a favorite trick of yours (usually accompanied by an “aaaah” sound) and good for a laugh from Mommy or Daddy any time!"
