Fabulous old tree. We have bears in numbers at the dump but occasionally see one cross our driveway or the beach then head into the woods across the road. Yep - keeping our distance is a good idea.
I have met black bears in the Adirondacks in upstate NY. They can get really large, especially the ones who forage in big dumps and around parks...They always need to be treated with respect, keep your distance from them.
This is a different view of a pine tree with a view of the mountain in back of our house. Beautiful, yet dangerous. The front is quite flat and not for climbers, but sadly it has claimed lives. This is why we have bears, moose, woodchucks, etc. that visit us occasionally. The Black Bear are not safe to mess with them.
