Great take on the mini! You need to scrap this photo w/ the story you just told, then you will always have Elliot! When my mechanic told me it was time for a new car when my 10 yo car was starting to get sick, I kept it parked in the driveway and would go out and sit in it once in awhile and talk to her. Her name was Betsy.
Bummer. I feel the same way about my car. There is a teeny rust spot on it and a couple tiny spots where the paint is starting to chip. My kids keep telling me to get a new car, but it runs good, its got zip, which I love, and its paid for! The thought of a car payment just does not sound good.
Great take!! I can definitely identify with you...my car is a 1990 Chevy Cavalier...I thought I was gonna have to "retire" her last week but she got a stay of execution thanks to my BIL's mechanical skills.
When you feel unsafe it's time for a new one! It had a great run...feeling the same about my van. It's falling apart inside and rusting inside the doors and on the outside. I don't want to part with it because it's paid for!
Last week my car expired. People have asked me for years why I don't trade up on this 17 year old car. Well, 1. No one tries to steal it! 2. It runs like a new car 3. It gets great mileage 4. It is the last car made totally in the USA of 100% American made parts. 5. It's like and 7 I love the color. WELL for the first time I felt unsafe in it, the brakes acted funny, the dome light fell off, and a big rust spot appeared. DH took its pulse and declared it time to move on. He knew I would not want to let go so he bought me a newer car and just brought it home. I tried not to like it but I do. He also sold Elliot (my car) so I could not refuse. So the perfect car has expired. Onward. (but I get to pick out the next car myself!!)
