This tiny town near us has Pie Day the first Friday in August each year. I'm so glad we found this event where hundreds and hundreds of people line up at tables like this for a $3 slice of pie, a scoop of ice cream for 50 cents and coffee for 50 cents. ALL pies are made by the ladies in town, NO shortcuts; all handmade. They begin a month ahead of time and use the freezers at the churches and homes to store them, then early on Friday they thaw and bake. HUGE task, the men make pancakes and French toast and eggs and bacon and sausage in a church basement and sellers from all over the state fill the park with booths and sell food, and earrings and Tshirts and about all you can imagine. There is also a big antique car show and parade. Fun day that helps keep this tiny town from becoming a ghost town.
