Let's get cozy with another cactus, that is sooooo easy to do here. This is another type of Pickly Pear, this paddle is heart shaped because when it was young and tender a Javelina took a bite out of it. How they do that and not get hurt is amazing. Anyway...since we are so cozy I will tell you a few things you probably don't need to know. See the little fuzzy parts the spines grow out of? They are called warts. See the hairs around the warts? They guide the water away from the warts and give the tiny ends a bit of shade just like your eye lashes do. Now don't you feel smart? (or bored)
