I fell in love with Jim from the first moment that I met him when we attended a dance at Kirkland Air Force base in 1971. I had just started going to school in Albuquerque when I met him in August. After I moved back home in December, we kept in touch by letter. He became friends with my cousin who was stationed at Kirkland and he came down on weekends when my cousin came home to visit. I was shocked when I came home on day (Mother's Day in 1972) and my mother told me that he had asked my Father if he could marry me. He was due to be transferred so we planned a quick wedding and on June 24th 1973 we were married. I met his parents on our way to our new home in Fort Lewis, Washington. He was the most kind and caring man. When I went into labor with our first daughter, he had tears in he eyes because of all the pain I was going through and he had tears in his eyes when he met our first daughter. He was just as proud and happy when our son and our other 2 daughters were born. He loved all of us so much that there was never anything he wouldn't do for us. His pride in his family was evident when he talked about us. He was an excellent father, provider and such an unselfish and loving person. We were all devastated when we found out he had cancer and his life expectancy was not long because the cancer was to far advanced. He was taken from his family in 299 after a year and a half battle with cancer. We all miss him so much and my only regret is that our grandchildren will never have the opportunity to know his loving and caring nature. One thing I am sure of though, is that this whole family has one amazing guardian angel.
