These are lovely and creative! The pink are my favorite. What a wonderful thing to do. You are sure to make some folks very happy with these. I've never heard of these baskets. I'm not sure if folks still do this or not. Interesting.
These are so pretty! I can just imagine the smiles they will put on the special residents' faces. What a blessing you are to them! We don't celebrate May day here in Canada so I had never heard of May day baskets but what a fun way to usher in such a beautiful spring month.
Wow, these are gorgeous, Ro!
You know, I remember when we made them in school, and would bring them home and give to our loved ones!!!
Thanks so much, for the beautiful memory!
These are so beautiful!
These look so lovely. I wish I could have voted beautiful twice. I don't remember this as a kid but maybe it was regional. They are so sweet and it is wonderful that you are reviving the tradition.
These turned out so beautifully. We used to do that when I was a child and we called the little cones Tussie Mussies. Brings back lots of memories. I haven't seen any around here. We also always wound the May Pole with ribbons.
Yes Ro, I remember our May Day growing up. Leaving our little paper made baskets on the door step, ringing the door bell, & hiding. Yes, it is a lost tradition, but how wonderful that you created these beautiful gifts for your residents. They will be so tickled! Beautifully created & gorgeous roses!:)
Do any of you or your kids give out May Day Baskets anymore? I did it some as a kid and my kids did it many years ago using candies but they rarely got anything back. The fun seems to have died out. Any way, Im going to surprise a couple of the senior residents where I work. I bought some little flowers and the pearls separately from our local second hand store. I cut out the cone 'baskets' with my Cricut machine and the Tie the Knot cartridge. There are a couple little holes on the seam so I added some ribbon dangles there. I had trouble figuring out how to keep the flowers in the baskets but finally wrapped and glued kleenex around the stems and added more glue to keep them in. Anyway, I think theyre rather cute. Entered into Mays Cricut Challenge. Thanks so much for all your comments, votes and friendly messages :o)Ro
