I split the ad in two and made a double page stacked 8.5 x 11 layout. Papers and letters by Polar Bear Press
journaling reads: My first apartment was ___________. I roomed with Tanya and Heidi for the 91-92 school year. They shared the big bedroom. I got my own bedroom and bathroom, all for $250 per month. It was a learning experience. As roommates, we got along okay. There were disagreements about chores, bills, and space.
The place had a giant living room and a fireplace. The dryers in the complex were terribly slow and expensive so we rigged up our own dryer line in the back of the living room. We threw lots of parties and get-togethers. I loved our parties.
We had two fold out couches so friends would often spend the night. We would make breakfast in the morning - usually hash browns, eggs, and vanilla cinnamon pancakes. Lots and lots of pancakes, they were cheap!
The second year I roomed with Tanya and Jill. Tanya was a close friend and we found Jill through the roommate want ads. The second year roommates were more enjoyable. That was the year I threw my own 21st birthday party with lots of friends, my first keg, and a three-tiered chocolate cake.
During the summer of 1993, I had a third set of roommates, this time two guys. David Dvorak and another guy whose name I can’t remember now. I worked that summer delivering pizzas. I brought home lots and lots of leftover pizzas. I think Pizza Hut fed us all that summer. After that summer, I was ready for a change of pace, so Tanya and I moved into a smaller two-person apartment on Broad Street. I really loved the Montalban apartment and have fond memories.
