I've been working a lot with black lately - as the background (in chalkboard cards and other fun projects), and as the foreground on another color. I made this card for a friend whose mom passed away recently, and I decided to work with a black background and lighten it up with some pink, lilac, and teal - very calming and uplifting. Hard to tell here, but the colors in the border really do match the butterfly colors. Stamping on black (especially when the card stock is textured as this is) can be tricky; I have found that chalk inks work pretty well. (Dye inks do not, as they seep into the paper and disappear.) I like using butterflies on sympathy cards - I think they bring a certain peace and lightness at a difficult time.
