I was going through old photos searching for a story to tell for our heritage assignment, when I came across this one. I think this is where my love of vacations, family gatherings and the beach began. The week we spent at the shore with my grandparents, aunts, uncles and extended family from both my Mom?s and Dad?s sides is one of my favorite childhood memories. A deep sense of family and belonging is what I remember the most.To highlight the one large photo with its faded patina, I chose to work with the Open Road collection by Crate Paper. I love the soft, dusty colors and that it includes both graphic travel elements and florals. I based the page on layers of pale patterned papers and mixed in bold yellow and navy stripe prints for contrast. The aqua chipboard frame was used to give the photo a little lift and filled with sequins to add movement and some of the wood color to the top of the page. A colorful title and camera die cut were used to compliment the the photo. To add texture and a handmade feel, I added a line of machine stitching under each of the lines of text. A sprinkle of wood sequins and enamel dots complete the story and the page!
