This was done for week 3 of Scraptathalon 2.

I have lots of description: The challenge was 2 kinds of patterned paper, sewing, and using a pick-up line, cliche or the word "line" in the title.

My title, 'Love Throws a Line' is a song title by Patty Griffin. In the lower left, you'll see some of the lyrics to the song:

"let's write a story of a tidal wave
we run out of luck
we run out of days
we run out of gas
a hundred miles away from a station

there's a war and a plague
smoke and disaster
lions in the coliseum
screams of laughter
motherless children
a witness and a bible
nothing but rain ahead, no chance for our survival

just before the flood comes
just before the night falls
just before the blood runs into the valley
just before my eyes go
just before we can't go any further

Love throws a line to you and me."

Under the picture you'll see a tiny 'love' tag, which pulls out the journaling:

"When Ray and I met, it was after we had each left relationships that can only be described as abusive. I didn't intend to get involved with anyone seriously, at least not for a very long time. Then I met him and everything changed. I remember it felt like we were literally healing each other when we touched - it was as if I could feel the molecules that make up m y body being knitted back together when we were wrapped in each other's arms.

It seemed, at the time, nothing short of magical. Today, 2 1/2 years later, nothing has been lost. I can still walk into his arms in the middle of a stressful, busy day and feel everything bad just melt away. Meeting him restored my faith: in love, people, the universe, myself.

I love this picture, because we both felt as if our late parents (my father, his mother) had a hand in our meeting - that their spirits conspired to bring us together. This picture, as we left our wedding reception, has my mother (still with us, thankfully) in the upper left with a huge smile on her face, like she's blessing us as we leave."

I did 3 kinds of patterned striped paper, upper, lower and side. I did some stitching over and under the chipboard letters for LOVE, as well as sewing on the metal tag the wedding date is written in. I also sewed on a little wedding ring charm down by the other L. Never done sewing on a project before, it was fun! Although as you can see, I can't sew a straight line.
