I just finished chapter one of Power of a Positive Mom. I agree with the author that it's okay to put others first. In fact, it's our job as moms and wives. This is contrary to the popular "me first" attitude of modern culture. Of course, we must take care of ourselves and have some "me time" now and then, but selflessness is what it takes to do an effective job of parenting and supporting our husbands.
One of the assignments for the first chapter was to write Colossians 3:17 on an index card and post it as a reminder. Yes, being a mom and wife is hard work. But we are to do it as unto the Lord. Ultimately, our reward comes from Him. And for a scrapper like me, an index card just won't do, so this is what I came up with. I recycled a box top that I found lying around the house. It's displayed in my kitchen window above the sink; so I can see it when I'm cooking and washing dishes.
