Your background is amazing. I think it's perfect for this layout. I love the way the b&w photo takes center stage and is surrounded by beautiful color! Lovely.
I definitely think that making a stencils with our Silhouette machine makes lots of sense. I've done it a couple of times now with pretty good results. I'm really liking how your bricks came out here. Like your misted flowers too and the gauzy tear at the top too.
After many, many mistakes on the background, I decided I would keep it as is. I did my best with this wonderful tutorial: http://gabriellepollacco.blogspot.ca/2014/08/scapbooking-natures-art-video-tutorial.html?m=1 This has been a huge learning lesson and a lot of fun! I used my Silhouette Portrait to make the long flower and leaves to the left of the picture. I used a Fiskars border punch at the bottom of the matting around the photo. It's not listed in the online store.
