Geez, you are giving me all kinds of good places to visit. We haven't been here and needed a reason to go back. DH loves root beer. The floral paper accent was a good choice.
I never knew Barq's started in Biloxi. Its my favorite root beer although I haven't seen it around for a while. I'm going to have to look for one! What a beautiful old building it had! I think I'm going to have to go to Biloxi and spend some time! Such a pretty little city.
This is one of the places we saw on the driving tour - something I knew nothing about. Birthplace of Barq's - root beer.
Background pp is Simple Stories, floral & yellow (solid) pp - My Mind's Eye, graph pp yellow - Teresa Collins. brads and chipboard piece - My Mind's Eye, Stickers (gold) - Teresa Collins, tickets - ? can't remember. Made some tickets from cs - stamped and used stickers.
Journaling: Edward Barq, Sr. (1871-1943) constructed this building circa 1898 to house his bottling company, the Biloxi Artesian Bottle Works. Here is where Barq experimented with formulas for various soft drinks and where he produced his famous Barq's Root Beer, which became the country's number one favorite. Barq studied soft drink formulation in France before coming to Biloxi. This small gable-roofed structure is typical of Biloxi's turn of the 20th century commercial buildings. This building served the company's needs until 1937, when the operation relocated to north of the railroad on Lameuse Street.
