This is my "newest" acquisition. It's an old bench/trundle bed. It would traditionally be in the home closest to the fireplace and would have been where the children would have slept (warmest spot). My Grandmother has memories of sleeping in one of these.
The part that you sit on, lifts off, then the front slides out, and ta-da, a bed.
We figure this one is probably close to 100 years old. There's no date or makers stamp, which means that it was probably handmade. Looks like it's missing a decorative piece off the middle of the back. It's a little mouse worn in a few spots, but I wouldn't trade it for something new. It's comfy enough that DH fell asleep on it while we were watching a movie. I'll use the inside for storage.
