Oh yes! Journaling is a must. If not for future genereations that won't have the knowledge that you do, for all the friends and new family that don't know "who that is and such and such." Journaling doesn't have to be a book or sloppy sentiments (although there is nothing wrong with that), but simply answering all or most of "who, what, where, when, and why" is sufficient. I like minimal journaling so that I can still be involved and tell the story details unless I'm getting sentimental about my daughters pages - then I'm a blubbering fool and need to trim it to fit. I think since both pics carry a fair amount of dark in them, they need to be lifted off the dark background. And, since both of them appear to be of the same general subject (your son or your children) but are of different instances and occassions, I might suggest trying a layout that leads to the pics while tying the journaling to that pic. I've drawn a quick sketch of what I am talking about in my gallery for you, the colors are only to show layout - not color suggestions. I'm not a computer whiz, just like to use it for sketching basic ideas. I'd also add your signature 3 brads between each set. You could even have the ends of the pieces above and below the pics torn edge so it appears that they were torn from one long continuous piece. You'd need to lay them together and tear both at the same time to give that effect, but it could be cool. And, if you prefer, this idea can be turned horizontal as well.
I agree. I think a title would add some oomph and help identify what is going on. Also, either some embillies or even some kind of masculine ribbon to add some 3-D effect would add a lot! :)
I totally agree with MotherGoose. We have some family albums that we have no clue who the people are or what they are doing. Do future generations a favor and at least put a name and date.
Maybe an embellie in one of the corners?
I think maybe you do need a little identification. You may know who is in the photo, but in the time to come when someone else is looking at the book, they may want to know which baby that is and who they were with. We have that problem with my Grandmother's albums that my sister and I have been going thru. Otherwise, nice lo.
One block may have some hand written journelling on it. I really hate journeling. I know what the pics are. personally, I don't see the need to say this is such and such playing with so and so. Maybe I need to broaden my horizens. :) Maybe some kind of masculine embellie? Any suggestions?
