I'm posting this so that I'll have some pictures to go with my explanation on the 2 peas message board about how I use Xyron WITHOUT the machine! I Xyron my cardstock BEFORE I cut out with the die, works SO much better for me. I usually do a strip the entire length of the cardstock but sometimes, only do a small piece, it is up to you! Anyway, I use both the smallest Xyron refills AND the 5“ refills. I do NOT have the machine for the 5” and do NOT use the machine for the X!First thing I do is get RID of the cartridge and the clear plastic strip. All you need is the roll of adhesive. I just cut a strip of cardstock a little wider than the adhesive. Then, roll the adhesive over the cardstock making sure all adhesive is covered by the cardstock. When you get to the end, cut off the adhesive making sure that you cut a sliver of cardstock off so that you have a sliver left on the end of the roll of adhesive. This way, your scissors stay clean, you have a nice starting point for “xyroning” the next piece of cardstock! Just cut out the cardstock and peel off the backing, and NO “goobers”!When I'm using the 5 inch xyron, I usually cut the cardstock just over 5 inches by about 3 to 4 or 5 inches and go the other direction. After I'm done, I get something to rub on the back of the Xyron backing to make sure it adheres well to the cardstock.
