Day Six
June 11th
This day the ship docked in Livorno, Italy, the gateway to Florence and Pisa. Our tour began at 7:30, and the six of us ended up in 3 groups of 2. The city of Florence got its name from what the city was known for – flowers. The Medici family had a lot of power over the city, and their influence is still evident today. Florence (Firenze in Italian) is rich with history and was fascinating. The city is considered the birthplace of the renaissance.
