Journaling: Greg, our old roommate and George’s buddy from his college engineering classes, is a great guy who used to be incredibly shy even though he was cute, smart, and successful. George always said that Greg just needed the right woman to come along, one who would be patient and really appreciate all of Greg’s great qualities. We are both pleased to see that that “right woman” finally came along for Greg. Melodie is sweet, smart, a world-traveler, and incredibly in love with Greg. Their wedding in July 2004 was one of the best we’ve ever attended. They rented out a whole hotel on the coast of Rosarito, Mexico, and we partied all weekend sans kids, who stayed home with Aunt Jeannie. One of the biggest advantages of having the whole hotel to ourselves was that no matter where we were—the pool, the bar, the restaurant—we knew that everyone there was either related to Greg and Melodie or was their friend. That made it easy to meet other people and definitely contributed to a relaxing and fun environment. The ceremony was beautiful, overlooking the ocean right before sunset. Their love for each other was so evident in their vows and in the way that they gazed into each other’s eyes. George was proud to stand beside his buddy as a groomsman, even if he had to wear a pink tie (just kidding, Greg and Mel!). The reception was one of the most entertaining we’ve ever attended. The dj played an awesome mix of music that kept us all grooving until we were out of breath. Even George, who I usually have to drag onto the dance floor, couldn’t stop dancing. At one point, during a Michael Jackson song (was it “PYT”?), he actually skidded across the dance floor on his knees. It was one of the most hilarious things I’ve ever seen. Greg and Melodie led the pack by out-dancing everyone. Fortunately, I snapped this photo of them rocking out. I love this picture because Greg is such a metal-head at heart, and it makes me so relieved and happy that he’s found such a fabulous woman to rock on with for the rest of his life.
