In Spain the tradition is to eat 12 grapes with each of the strokes of the clock. I always choke laughing when I eat my grapes, looking at everybody around trying to masticate their grapes. :)
Neat idea. My mom always made us eat an apple. I like this idea better. Does it still count if we have the grapes in the form of a glass wine, and make a wish with each swig? ;)
When I was young my mother had heard of this tradition along with the yellow underwear thing from someone, so that year we did the very same thing on new years - how fun! Raquel
My Peruvian co-worker has the same tradition, but they also all wear yellow underwear that day! Not sure why. Maybe to represent sunshine? Love that you scrapped this. Great layout. Love how the curves of the brown paper echo the curves of the grapes.
Very cool tradition and LO! Your LO's are always so cool and interesting. Love how you scrap everyday events and even without people. Love what you did with the color combo as well. You are super talented!
I love this lo...love the subject, love the colors, love the elements you used!! I really like that textured paper you used for the big scalloped half circle!
That's really a cool tradition! Back where I came from, it's a tradition to have 13 kinds of round fruit on the table on New Year. According to the old folks, this is to ensure prosperity for the whole year :)
What a neat tradition...Sesame Street rocks! We can still learn from 'the street' and never forget how important the little things are. Great job on this LO, I love all the details around the picture, puzzle piece and keyhole are especially neat!
I love how you scrap different things like this. I bet you could take a pic of a bowl of soup and do a great Lo w/ it. I can see it now. Your like I can make a LO about this. LOL....great!
Very nice LO! Is this just your family's tradition? Any that involve food I love are good traditions! I should start one that involves dark chocolate! Thanks for the inspiration!
Wow-is their no end to your creativity? This is a simply lovely lo...the layering of pp and the color scheme you chose (whether it was part of a challenge or not!) went together fabulously! You always add so many wonderful elements that make an overall beautiful effect; the puzzle pieces, keyhole, "recipe" card, flowers, fleur de lis brads, etc. You pull together things that one wouldn't think of, but you make it work every time!
Wow!! This is beautiful!! I love that tradition what a sweet memory!! I love all that Fleur De lis....LOL Awesome!! I love the way the paper has a shadow it is sooo cool!
Shawn....Love it!....So glad you've had a chance to scrapbook this weekend! About the LO....There's so much that you did on this one, I hardly know where to begin! Here goes: Love....LOVE your fancy schmancy calligraphy! YOU GO GIRL! The "unstitching" is WONDERFUL....so much fun.....and the litle fleur de lis brads are too cute with the Cricut fleur de same....LOL....Mostly, I love your colors and design....FAVE....Hugs....Patty
Our New Years tradition is to eat thirteen grapes. We learned about this tradition on a Sesame Street holiday World Custom television program yrs ago. The custom is to eat one grape for each of the the upcoming months, plus one extra, and make a wish on each one.
I used; Tim Holtz Keyhole mini puzzle pieces (thanks asassyscrapper!) brads~ chorderoy & metal calligraphy pen stickers
This Lo is for the Color Challenge~ must use hot pink, green & brown. There is a light brown scallop under the dark brown..that is not a shadow. Thank you for looking:)
