This is stunning! I love everything about it - also your description as to how you made it, though am wondering how you made that beautiful frame around that precious photo. The string attached to the tag is perfect too, giving a country feel. But the whole layout is perfect; I'm so envious of your creativity!
Krissy has provided all the Swirly Savages with the perfect opportunity to dig out old family photos with the November Antique Linen Swirlydoos Kit, with perfect pp and wonderful embellishments, stamps and such.
I made some more of the paper bag flowers from Lisa's Swirly tutorial, using the Sizzix Bigz Flower Layers die. I used a variety of Glimmer Mist colors on the die cuts and assembled 2 large and 2 medium layers per flower. The centers are the small flowers contained in the Prima Camelot Collection package. The Flutter Vine was a little too bright, so I misted it with Antique Brass and Wheatfields to better match the antique look of the rest of the page. The small birds were cut with the Quickutz Soaring Bird die, then coated with Glossy Accents and glued with a double layer of Pop Dots. The banner is actually packaging paper that I saved. I cut a strip, inked the sides, made a “V” cut on one end and inking it, applied the first word and folded with Glue Dots. I then applied the second word, and so on. I finished by making a “V” on the other end and inking that. The fence was painted with Weathered Wood and lightly sanded. I then added touches of Old Paper and sanded a bit more.
Hidden journaling on the tag behind the photo: Jane Loretta McCormick (1888 – 1958) married John Darby in 1916. My grandfather died in 1931, leaving 7 children ranging in age from 15 to 1 year and a mortgaged farm. Somehow, despite the Great Depression, my grandmother managed to hold on to the farm until the early 1940's when. Due to heart trouble, she sold it and moved into town. Her oldest son, my Uncle Jack, was killed in the war. I remember her as a kind, cheerful woman, with such a joy for life.
