Thank you for your comments on my Obama commemorative page. As a strong believer of the Christain Faith, it is my nature to pray. So you are correct in recognizing the important fact that we need to pray for our President, regardless of what color, creed, origin, or background. Please know that b/c of Obama's views on abortion and gay rights, he normally would not have been my selection as President of this country. However, McCain was not the better choice and he proved that by chosing Phalin as a running mate, poor decisions right off the bat. . So you see, one of the two was going to be chosen to be our country's leader, and America spoke, and spoke clearly that the right person should be Barack Obama. So now that the choice has been made, this leads us to pray for Obama b/c God knows he's going to need it. See to me, its not about skin color, its about who's right for the job. On the other hand, our heritage is VERY proud of this historic moment, and we have a right to be. But it's people with views like yours that try to diminish the reality of what just happened by hiding behind quotes such as "oh we just need to pray", which is true. That's no news to African Americans. We come from a strong heritage of Faith and prayer. It was our ancestors who prayed us through. . You see, our heritage was mostly built on Faith b/c that's all we had and our ancestors made sure to instill in us to trust in the Lord and to pray. So praying is not news to us. In fact, we prayed that Obama get elected. But we must ask ourselves, what would have been the reaction should McCain had won? Makes you wonder. So please recognize that it is an insult to some when comments like yours are made when something as big as what just took place in this country, are made. We dont expect you to understand, how could you? But we do ask you to celebrate with us, not against us, we're past that.
