This is page 2 of a 2page spread. There are 2 pictures and journaling under the 5x7 photo. Journaling reads:July 4th, 2006. Independence Day, yes, but for Becky it took on a whole new meaning. At 6:15 she boarded a plane for a 20 day trip to Europe. She wasn’t quite independent. She was with a group called People to People, 30 kids and 3 chaperones. But I felt a little lost as I left her at the airport, knowing I wouldn’t be seeing her again for almost three weeks. We had arrived at the airport at 3:30 and they took group pictures and checked all the kids in, giving them last minute instructions. Becky was in Karen’s small group so she reported in for her lanyard and Id and then went to check her bag. I stuck around until they went through security, at which point I had no choice but to go home. She called me the next day when their flight got into Zurich. She was completely exhausted, not having slept on the plane. They had flown into Frankfort, where most of the luggage was inadvertently left, and transferred planes to fly to Zurich. She was one of the lucky ones who had her luggage. She was off on her great adventure!
