OK, I'm not crazy about doing event type layouts (who is?) but I figured I must do my son's first birthday…and now, it's morphed into a series of layouts - probably 3 or 4. So, I decided to use chatterbox stuff to maintain some continuity between all the birthday layouts. I thought the colors in this set fit nicely with all the outdoor shots. I through in some miscellaneous scraps as well as some fibers, etc…I'm not crazy with the title but it's stuck so I'll live with it! Extra “pre-party” pictures are tucked underneath the twine on the bottom right. Journaling is nothing special but I've included it below for all you nosy people (like myself) who would squint to read it off of the layout!
Before the party, you were a diaper boy…you got muddy and ran around picking up rocks and leaves and (blech) some miscellaneous garbage. We got to the park at around 9:30. We had originally planned on having your party at Layne Park but when we showed up there, there was an Army recruitment activity going on. After some quick thinking and some hurried phone calls to our guests, we relocated to Woodward Park and staked out our spot. Papa and grandpa left to pick up the food and a small barbeque since our new location didn’t have any barbecues available. Grandma and I went to work blowing up the balloons (helium even!) and setting everything up. You went to work yourself and had a wonderful time digging around in the dirt and in general, getting as filthy as possible. You did look adorable in your sandals and diaper though and you were such a good boy keeping yourself occupied while we were busy. Finally, papa and grandpa got back and set up the food and grill. Despite papa being disappointed about having to change plans at the last minute, I was actually happy about it since we loved the new spot, it was shady and secluded and large enough to accomodate everyone. And eventually, papa came around too as his new toy (the portable grill that folds up to 2” flat) wouldn’t have been “discovered” if not for the last minute need. We eventually had to clean you up and get you dressed (not your finest moment - you had a fit!) but for a couple of hours, you were in your glory as our little diaper boy!
.
