I wasn't initially crazy about this art piece, but after staring at it a bit, I drew inspiration from the strips of color blocking used by the artist. I also decided that the colors went perfectly with these photos of my son after he'd cut his own hair with my scissors. The leafy thing “appears” in my layout in the form of the Sonnets sticker. I was going to straighten up the top of the strip of color blocking at the top after I finished the layout, but my older DS convinced me that he liked it crooked, so I decided to leave it. Journaling reads: “Okay, in retrospect, I should have known something wasn't right. I was engrossed in some project in the dining room when I heard a drawer open and close in the kitchen. ”Brian, what are you doing?“ ”Nothing, Mom.“ Why I believed the words ”nothing, Mom“ from a three-year-old, I have no idea, but I did. A few minutes later, you came into the dining room, holding my big kitchen shears and proudly showing me that you'd cut a big chunk right out of the front of your hair. While your experiment was not as traumatic as a little girl cutting off her ponytail, I was still upset by what you'd done. Clearly, though, I had no one to blame but myself, and perhaps that's why I was so upset! Fortunately, you and Brandon were scheduled for haircuts that weekend, and Doug managed to cut your hair so that the offending ”chop“ blended right in. And believe me, now when you answer the question ”What are you doing?“ with ”Nothing, Mom,“ I come running!” TFL!
